A large round room with funerary niches set in the walls, stacked fifty feet to the ceiling. A tall ladder on rollers is hooked into a groove, allowing it to roll sideways only. Each crypt contains the remains of a Free Dead citizen who has succumbed to “the stillness”, a supposed disease afflicting the dead. They are brought here to rest while the Free Dead seek a cure to their condition.
- The Stillness — Actually this is just a product of two forces: (1) the absence of Orcus, the demon prince whose appetite for souls long fueled the necromantic energies of the undead; and (2) a strange amalgam of the Necro Engine, which burns necromantic energies in the weave as fuel, and proximity to metaline, which randomly transmutes magical energies into different forms.
